Once a gay man comes out, there are many ways in which the news could be received. The one thing that may happen is that the family and friends may refuse to accept him as he is.

Very interesting article Anthony, and one all people who think of converting gays and lesbians should read.

I just thought that you could also have added the recent findings by the Task force entitled, "Appropriate Therapeutic responses to Sexual Orientation."

The report which evaluates all research done on sexual orientation change efforts - SOCE, finds out that not only is it unlikely for one to change sexual orientation, these efforts pose major health risks, like depression, anxiety and even suicidality.

Efforts by the Kenya Gay and Lesbian Asssociation - GALCK, to address the findings of these report by the Kenyan equivalent body - Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors, have been vehemently rejected, although some counsellors in the association take the report seriously.

It is important for all parents and guardians of Gay and Lesbian youths to know what risks they expose their children to, when they take them to these cousellors, particularly the religious ones who purport to be able to change sexual orientation.

Thank you, for addressing this very urgent topic.

A fuller article describing this study is available on this website in the article entitled: INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE THAT SEXUAL ORIENTATION CHANGE EFFORTS WORK, SAYS APA.

Yet I have to say I love Anthony's genre of writing. Its very contextual to our situation.

Well written article. Antony bravo.

Homosexuality is not a disease to 'cure' I remember when I came out to my sister, she had this kind of a look in her face. One which makes you wonder why don't they get it. Its just a homosexual just like a heterosexual.

The society has really made it looks devilish. Its time we unmade that by letting the society know 'I am a gay neighbor, workmate, friend - get used to it. You cant cure me!'
