Sexual Orientation & Gender Diversity Workshop

Issues of concern to Sexual Minorities are rarely discussed in any positive and affirming environments in Kenya. It is no longer possible to discount the various challenges faced by the LGBTI people in Kenya. This workshop attempts to create awareness of who the LGBTI people are and their needs.

The workshop, which lasts only one hour, seeks to give tools to people who serve LGBTI people to engage with them in a non-stigmatizing and sensitive way. Participants can also use the skills learnt in this workshop to work with other diverse groups in the society. Below is the workshop outline.

Worshop Outline.

SECTION 1:    Commonly used Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender language. (10 Mins)
SECTION 2:    What is it like to identify as a sexual or gender minority? (15 Mins)
SECTION 3:     Service provision to Sexual and gender minorities. (15 Mins)
SECTION 4:    Fact-check. (10 Mins)
SECTION 5: Resources and tips on being a LGBT ally.   (10 Mins)
